SANOOK is the design studio of Thai–British artist Christina Cushing. Often translated as ‘fun’ or ‘enjoyment’,
sanook (สนุก) is about more than just entertainment — it’s rooted in a deeper cultural concept of finding joy and meaning in everything we do.
Whether working on exhibitions, campaigns, or feature films, this belief sits at the heart of Christina’s approach: that what we love shapes how we live, create, and collaborate.
With a background in both design and visual arts, Christina’s work moves fluidly between exhibitions, campaigns, feature films and high-end TV.
In the film and television industry, she has contributed to high-profile productions designing props, screen graphics and set dressing elements that support visual worldbuilding. Her credits include the feature film Layla (dir. Amrou Al-Kadhi), which premiered at Cannes and was selected for both Sundance and BFI London Film Festival, as well as upcoming feature Queen at Sea from Sundance-award winning director Lance Hammer, starring
Juliette Binoche.
Christina has also worked on numerous commercials including Nike,
IKEA,
Dr. Martens, EA Sports, Dr Pepper, and JD Sports, as well as music videos for John Glacier and AntsLive.
Beyond the screen, Christina collaborates with galleries, artists, and fashion brands to develop campaigns, exhibition graphics, and visual identities. Her work has been comissioned by ICA, DAZED, and The Vinyl Factory, and she frequently works with 180 Studios on digital campaigns and exhibiton graphics including Gucci Cosmos, Wes Anderson: Asteroid City, and Selah by Gabriel Moses.
Christina is available for freelance work across the visual arts, fashion, commercials, film and TV.
